ABOUT RUMBA JAZZ

Founded by Raul Rico, jr. in 1990, the group's main focus is performing Latin jazz or more appropriately, Afro-Cuban jazz music (the mixture of jazz improvisations and Cuban and African rhythms).

Percussionist Raul Rico, Jr., has been performing professionally for 41 years. He has been a member of "The Estrada Brothers," "The Nava Brothers," "Canela," "Nuestro," "Sabor Latino Big Band," "Tropical Knights," "Somos Son" and "Equinox." In addition to "Rumba Jazz", Raul has also led the group, "Rubaya" , the 14 piece salsa orchestra, "Sonido Libre," and the 10 piece salsa orchestra, "Mambo'n"

Currently, Raul performs with the Ventura County based Latin band, "Nuestro," Cougar Estrada's "The Lounge Trio" and his latest musical project,

"The Oxnard Salsa Orchestra"
